In addition to Hayama Yuki's Ssangyong, a continuing exhibit from GFK2023, you can also see Descending Painting "Unryu-zu" by Tatehana Noritaka, on display again for the second year. The combination of contemporary art and craft set against the town's historic backdrop is truly a sight to behold.
12:00
Lunch at Piatto Suzuki Cinque
Savor authentic Italian cuisine crafted with an abundance of Toyama's freshest ingredients, including seafood sourced directly from the morning’s catch and vegetables picked the very same day. Menu offerings pair beautifully with both wine and local sake. Reservations are required.
13:00
Depart from the Iwase area
Take the Kosugi IC onto the Hokuriku Expressway, pass through Kanazawa Morimoto IC, and head to the Higashiyama area.
14:30
Park at Higashiyama Tourism Parking Lot
The streets around the Higashiyama venues are quite narrow and winding, so we recommend parking nearby and exploring the area on foot. The Higashiyama Tourism Parking Lot tends to be very crowded on weekends—if full, please use one of the nearby pay parking lots.
14:40
Start your tour of the Higashiyama area exhibitions from Si Zhi Tang Kanazawa
Several exhibitions take place in venues that have previously been closed to the public. As you venture into the hidden depths behind Kanzawa's iconic Higashi Chaya District, you may just discover some insights into how craft can connect with your everyday life. A variety of events will also be held during the exhibition period—please check the events page for details.
Drive 10 minutes to the Shintate-machi Shopping District.
16:30
Discover the art of handcrafted embroidery at taffeta
Nestled in the Shintate-machi Shopping District, this atelier & shop belongs to Taka Tomoko, a GFK2025 exhibiting artist. Alongside a curated selection of clothing and lifestyle goods, the shop also offers embroidered works from her brand, atelier taffeta. At the counter, you might catch a glimpse of Taka herself, quietly crafting new pieces as she tends the shop.
