EVENT

[Ended]The Literati Culture of the Modern Age: Kasugayama Kiln and Choemon Kiln

  • EAT/DRINK
  • RESERVATION REQUIRED

This project, held at Kai-Hanare, is a chance to savor the foods and take in the ambiance carefully crafted by the owner Miura Shiro, while admiring the artwork of its featured artist Kamide Keigo. Located near Kai-Hanare, Kasugayama Kiln started in the 19th century and has connections with Aoki Mokubei, a noted painter and literatus, invited there by the rich and powerful Kaga Domain of feudal Japan. He would go on to play a pivotal role in the revival of Kutani ware ceramics. Enjoy a good meal while comparing the craftsmanship of Kutani Choemon, which drew inspiration from the style of Kasugayama Kiln, with tableware made by Kasugayama Kiln itself that Choemon Kiln preserves in its collection. Bask in the refinement of this space, newly adorned with sliding door paintings by Kamide and items created by Miura and other craftspeople. Here, meals and tea come together in perfect harmony.
